Showment Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 2, 2026
Showment is an iOS app for keeping a record of the live shows you have been to. This policy explains what data the app handles, where that data is stored, and when any of it leaves your device.
1. Scope
This policy covers the Showment app for iOS (including TestFlight builds) and the relay services that the Showment developer ("we") runs for the app.
Third-party websites and apps you open from Showment (such as ticketing sites, Apple Music, map apps and Instagram) handle data under their own privacy policies and are not covered here.
2. What we do not collect
- No accounts: there is no sign-up or sign-in. We do not know who you are.
- No identifiers: the app does not read the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not create its own device or user ID.
- No tracking: we do not track you across apps or websites and do not share data with advertisers or data brokers.
- No analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs: the app uses only three open-source libraries (HorizonCalendar, SwiftSoup, SwiftTimeZoneLookup), all of which run on your device only.
- No location, contacts or address book data is collected.
If you have turned on "Share With App Developers" for analytics in your iPhone settings, Apple provides us with aggregated crash and usage statistics. Apple collects and processes that data, and you can turn it off in Settings at any time.
3. Where your data is stored
- On your device: everything you create (events, series, venues, performers, setlists, notes, expenses, photos and so on) is stored on your device.
- In your own iCloud: if you turn on "iCloud Sync" in the app (off by default; not offered in the mainland China edition), that data syncs to the private iCloud database of your Apple Account. Only your Apple Account can access it; we cannot read it. Apple handles it under the iCloud terms.
- Backups you export: files exported from "Backup & Restore" are saved wherever you choose, and you keep them.
- Preferences: settings such as region, currency and user mode stay on your device and are not synced.
4. When data leaves your device
Most of the app works entirely on your device. Data is sent out only when you choose to use one of the features below.
4.1 Importing from poster, ticket or setlist photos
Your images are not uploaded. The app first reads the text in the image on your device using Apple's text recognition, then sends the recognized text and where each line sits in the image to our relay service. An AI model turns it into event or setlist details and the result comes back to the app.
Please note: if a ticket shows your seat, order number or name, that text is sent as well.
4.2 Importing from a ticket link
When you paste a ticket URL, the app loads that ticketing page directly from your device (some sites open in a web view inside the app). The ticketing site sees that connection just as it would when you browse normally. The app then sends the event details it extracted from the page (title, venue, date, session text and the URL) to our relay service for structuring. Poster and performer images shown during import are also downloaded by the app directly from the source site.
4.3 Exchange rates
When exchange rates are refreshed, the app asks our relay service for public rates. The request contains only currency codes.
4.4 Relay services and third-party processors
What is sent to the relay services does not include an account, a name field, a device identifier or your location. The relay services check requests only with a single access token shared by every copy of the app.
| Edition you installed | Relay service | The relay service passes it on to |
|---|---|---|
| International edition | Cloudflare Workers | Google Gemini API (AI model) |
| Mainland China edition | Tencent Cloud Serverless Cloud Function (SCF) | DeepSeek (AI model); Baidu Qianfan (AI model, currently not enabled, kept as a fallback); Juhe Data and ALAPI (exchange rates only; they receive currency codes only) |
How this content is kept:
- We have not set up any database that stores what you send, and we do not use it for analytics, model training or any other purpose.
- The international relay service does not write what you send to any storage and has no log retention turned on.
- To diagnose errors, the mainland China relay service writes the beginning of the recognized text (roughly the first 500 characters and the first 12 lines) to the function logs in our Tencent Cloud account when it processes posters and setlists. These logs contain no identity information and are used only for troubleshooting.
- Third-party processors handle what they receive under their own terms. In particular: the international edition currently uses the free tier of the Google Gemini API. Under Google's terms, content sent to the free tier may be used by Google to improve its products and may be read by human reviewers. If an image contains text you do not want a third party to see, do not run it through import; enter the details by hand instead.
- These services may process data outside your country or region.
4.5 Apple services
- Apple Music: once you grant access, the app uses Apple's MusicKit to search the Apple Music catalog by performer name and song title, match songs, and create or update playlists when you ask it to. Candidate performer photos also come from Apple Music.
- Maps: map display and venue search use Apple's map services, and Apple processes your search terms. When you choose to get directions, the app opens the map app you pick.
- iCloud: see section 3.
Apple handles these requests under its own privacy policy.
4.6 Sharing
When you share an image or a share package, the content goes to the destination you choose (an app in the system share sheet, or Instagram Stories).
5. Permissions and what they are for
Every permission is optional. Declining only disables the related feature. You can change them at any time in your iPhone's Settings → Showment.
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Camera | Taking a photo of a poster or ticket so its text can be recognized on your device. The photo itself is not uploaded. |
| Photos | Images are chosen through the system photo picker, so the app only receives the ones you pick. The "Add Photos" permission is used only to save posters back to your library. |
| Apple Music | Searching and matching songs, creating or syncing playlists, and offering candidate performer photos. |
| Location (while using the app) | Showing where you are on the map and, when you add a venue, working out which country or region you are in so the right map and search options are used. The region check runs offline on your device; your location is not sent to our relay services or to any AI service. |
6. How to delete your data
- Delete individual items: delete an event, venue or other item in the app. With iCloud Sync on, the copy in your iCloud is deleted too.
- Delete everything: in the app, go to Settings → Data → Reset → Reset All Data. With iCloud Sync on, the deletion also syncs to the copy in your iCloud.
- Stop syncing only: in the app, turn off Settings → Data → iCloud Sync. Syncing stops and the data on your device and in iCloud are both kept.
- Delete the data in iCloud: on your iPhone, go to Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Showment and choose to delete the data (the exact labels vary between iOS versions).
- Delete the app: this removes all Showment data from your device. The copy in iCloud has to be deleted separately as described above.
- Relay services: we keep nothing that can be linked to you, so we cannot look up or delete a particular user's content. The mainland China troubleshooting logs contain no identity information.
7. Children
Showment is not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes to this policy
When we update this policy, we will change this page and update the effective date at the top.
